Competition Rules
• A student may submit only one entry.
• Only one student per entry is allowed.
• Competition financial obligations are the responsibility of the entrant.
• Copies of the score of each category winner will be kept by IMTA.
• IMTA is not responsible for lost or damaged manuscripts or parts.
• Scores will not be returned to the entrants.
• Entrants must have prepared the composition with the teacher listed on the entry form.
Submission Requirements
• The performance time must not exceed ten (10) minutes.
• A composition may be in any style.
• Only compositions for nine performers or less will be accepted. Electronic realizations of larger scale works are not allowed.
• Compositions for prepared piano are not permitted at the request of competition hosts and piano companies providing instruments.
• A composition that makes use of a copyrighted text must be accompanied by a written statement from the copyright holder giving permission to use the text. If the text is in the public domain, a statement signed by the student and teacher indicating this fact must accompany the entry.
• Two (2) copies of a fully realized score, completely notated by the student composer, are required (no recordings accepted). The manuscript must be in the student composer’s handwriting or in the form of a computer printout produced by the student composer.
• Measures of the composition must be numbered, preferably at the beginning of each system.
• All materials must be labeled with the name of the composition, the name of the student and the category (Elementary, Junior, Senior, or Young Artist). The name of the teacher or any reference to school/institution must not appear on the score.
• No change may be made to the manuscript once it has been submitted with the entry form.
• Any composition that does not meet the Submission Requirements will be disqualified.

• Age Categories and Entry Fees are as follows:
Elementary – Age: 5-10 as of 1/1/2013 Entry fee: $10.00
Junior – Age: 11-14 as of 1/1/2013 Entry fee: $15.00
Senior – Age: 15-18 as of 1/1/2013 Entry fee: $20.00
Young Artist – Age: 19-26 as of 1/1/2013 Entry fee: $30.00
