Student Achievement Recognition Award (StAR)
The Student Achievement Recognition Award (StAR) has been given to outstanding music students who intend to teach professionally in an independent or collegiate music studio.

MTNA Studio Fellowship Award Program
Recipients of the StAR Award are eligible to enter the MTNA Studio Fellowship Award Program. Each year, the MTNA Studio Fellowship presents a monetary award to one student nationally who most clearly demonstrates a strong commitment to the music teaching profession. The program was established to help music teachers develop and enhance their newly established studios. The 2008 MTNA Studio Fellowship Award was presented to Edward Moy, Butler University graduate.
MTNA Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award
The MTNA
Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award is named for renowned teacher and
MTNA benefactor, Benjamin Whitten, for his financial support of the
award. It is given to the MTNA collegiate chapter that demonstrates
excellence in its chapter activities. The University of Montana Keyboard
Society Collegiate Chapter is the recipient of the 2010 MTNA-Benjamin
Whitten Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award. The president of the
University of Montana Keyboard Society Collegiate Chapter is Elaine
Bennion.
This honor recognizes the chapter’s commitment to the music teaching
profession and MTNA. The committee considered their activities strongly
oriented toward excellent music making and teaching and that the chapter
was doing great work in advancing the profession among the next
generation of teachers.
