The Opus Composition Festival is a competitive event designed to encourage students to create and write music. The Opus Composition Festival promotes creativity and educates students in the art and craft of musical composition.

Entry fee = $10.00
All students who enter receive a special certificate of participation and judge's sheets with comments.
Different judges are asked every year. If you do not have students participating in The Opus Festival, and would like to judge, please email LeAnna Wilson. (see email address below)
1st place winners in each category receive the following:
· The opportunity for his/her composition to be played at this year's IMTA State Conference.
· IMTA will pay the registration fee to be entered in the MTNA Composition Competition in September
The Opus Festival will follow the same guidelines and age categories as the MTNA Student Composition Competition. These guidelines may be found here.
Opus Festival Rules:
Entrants may submit only one composition. Compositions may be in any style for any performance medium. Do not submit the original manuscript. Mail four copies of the score (no tapes) and one copy of the entry form (Opus Festival information and entry form sent via email) to the state composition coordinator. The manuscript must be labeled with student's name and category (Elementary, Junior, Senior, Young Artist) and the title of the composition. The teacher's name must not be included on the score.
