Independent Music Teachers Forum The Independent Music Teachers Forum (IMTF) was created to be an active resource for independent music teachers in the State of Indiana. This Forum and the IMTF Chair exist to be a liaison between you, the independent music teachers, and the Indiana Music Teachers Association board. I, the IMTF Chair, am committed to providing useful tools, information and conference topics to enable teachers to be more successful and effective than they already are. Upcoming services include: - To help local associations to encourage enrollment in the IMTA by keeping in contact, listening to your needs, and by providing associations with an informative brochure of membership beneifts.
- To provide an on-going list of state-wide summer camps, scholarships, workshops, competitions and other beneficial happenings around Indiana. (These may be submitted to me at imtf@indmta.org)
- Periodic articles containing advice, favorite teaching pieces, must-read books, etc. These will be available through this IMTF link on-line. (Local Association Presidents are encouraged to print these and to distribute them to those teachers without internet capabilities.)
Please visit this web page often for new information and updates. Please also feel free to contact me with any information, questions or concerns. When emailing, please always indicate who you are, where you live in the state and what you do. This will help me to better assist you. I encourage all independent music teachers to attend the State Conference this year at Anderson University on November 3-4, 2006. The IMTF has a session entitled, "The Independent Music Teacher's Diet: Keys to a Well-Balanced, Professional Studio." Rebecca Osborn and myself will be presenting. The session is a three-part "diet" including the well-balanced schedule, the well-balanced student and business applications. This very practical session will focus on meeting the needs of teachers where they are today. You will leave this session with direct applications that you can apply immediately. I hope to meet everyone there! Kelly Freije Independent Music Teachers Forum Chair |
